This manuscript is often referred to as the so-called Egbert Pontifical, named from Egbert, Archbishop of York, 732-66. Among its content are the coronation oath and an ordeal manual, both reproduced here. The manuscript was in the library of the cathedral of Évreux in the eleventh century and it seems likely that it is a copy, produced at that time for the bishop of Évreux, of the original Egbert Pontifical.
