MS 1 (L. 16)

This manuscript, which dates from c.1200, contains an early beta text of the Tractatus de legibus et consuetudinibus regni Anglie attributed to Glanvill and an early copy of version 1 of the Leges Edwardi Confessoris. These two texts are presented as a single unit and formed the only contents of the original manuscript.  Its medieval place of origin and provenance are unknown; by the 16th century, it was in the hands of Sir James Dyer C.J. and later the antiquary Francis Tate.
