MS DRc/R1 (Textus Roffensis)

This manuscript consists of two parts, both of which were probably compiled during the time of Bishop Ernulf of Rochester (1115-24). The first part of the manuscript, reproduced here, is often described as a ‘legal encyclopaedia’ and contains many legal texts, some of which only survives in this particular manuscript. The second part contains a cartulary of Rochester Cathedral priory. The main part of the manuscript is in the same hand throughout.
