MS Harley 55

This manuscript is a composite and the script of the first four folios, which include the law codes II-III Eg, are a century and a half earlier than the nine folios immediately following, containing I-II Cn. The folios containing II-III Eg were written in the early eleventh century and have a clear connection with Worcester and Bishop Wulfstan (1002-1016). The earliest mention of the two texts being associated in the same manuscript dates from the late sixteenth century.  The copy of I-II Cn, dating to c. 1150, took up all of two quires and is likely to have circulated as an independent pamphlet.
