This code was issued at Winchester in 1020 or 1021 and was authored by Archbishop Wulfstan of York (1002-1023). It is the fullest single record of Anglo-Saxon law. The code is chiefly a codification of pre-existing law and it borrows heavily from the laws of Æthelred and Edgar. There are three Old English texts of this code and a number of post-conquest Latin adaptations.
