Æthelstan’s Grately code (II As)
This was King Aethelstan’s major statement of law and is the longest of his seven codes. The code was divided into clauses early in its transmission, but in the earliest manuscripts the code lacked prologue or epilogue. The main theme of the code is theft, but the laws also deal with treachery to lords, witchcraft and punishment of slaves.
