Æthelred’s Woodstock code (I Atr)
This Old English law-code of Æthelred, king of England (978–1016), represents the regulations produced by a royal council meeting at Woodstock that may have taken place in 997. It is largely concerned with criminal surety 'according to English law’, and appears to be paired with Æthelred’s Wantage code (III Atr), also produced in 997, that treats the areas of England that were under Danish law.
