Be blaserum 7 be morðslihtum (Blas)
This text on ordeals is probably the earliest of the anonymous codes. It bears similarities both in content and language to the legislation of Æthelstan, yet it is clear that it does not belong to any of his codes. The transmission of the text is closely related to that of Forfang and the Hundred and it seems likely that the text was produced on local initiative rather than central guidance.
